I'm Karen Gray. I'm a certified clinical hypnotist, certified hypnosis instructor, retired registered nurse, and the founder of Green Mountain Hypnosis.


I started my hypnosis practice with the core belief that we aren't our problems or our struggles. You are amazing, and you are capable of far more than you realize.


My fascination with hypnosis began the very first time I was hypnotized, and I was given the suggestion that my arm was so stiff that I couldn't bend it. Of course I knew I could if I really wanted to, yet the suggestion was so effective that I felt as though it was stuck. 


The experience was profound for me, as I realized that we have the ability to give ourselves a suggestion and have our bodies believe it. I immediately began learning how to apply those same mental techniques to get unstuck from all those things that felt impossible to change before.


The tools, strategies and techniques I use with my clients are the same ones that I've used to stop stress and anxiety, heal past traumas, let go of insecurities, build my confidence, and have a healthier relationship with food and weight loss.

Credentials and Education

I graduated from Castleton University with my nursing degree in 2006. I worked as a registered nurse in a variety of different settings in my nursing career, including emergency medicine, prison healthcare, acute care, and geriatrics. Each specialty brought new challenges and new ways of caring for people. Over time I realized that there wasn't much that traditional medicine could offer to my patients who were struggling with stress, anxiety, and other emotional barriers to health and wellness.


I was introduced to hypnosis in 2015 and was absolutely fascinated by the experience and the science behind it. Hypnosis is like having the owners manual to your mind. It is one of the most powerful ways I have found to create real and lasting change quickly and efficiently, without the inner struggles or mental blocks that show up with other methods. I started researching more, and got my first certification from Jason Linett through the National Guild of Hypnotists in 2016. I opened Green Mountain Hypnosis that same year.


Since my initial certification I have devoted hundreds of hours to continuing education, earning specialty certifications in:

How I Work With Clients

The first thing I ask any new client is "How can I help?"


I work with clients who are ready for change and want a safe, effective, and proven way to get it. Sometimes it’s stress and feelings of anxiety, habits or behaviors they can't seem to shake, or the sense that their mind and body are working against them. And some are simply looking to build on the successes they’ve already created. 


I am sincerely rooting for you every step of the way. Sessions are structured but flexible. We start with where you are, figure out where you want to end up, and craft each session to move you in that direction. Every session is based on what you're experiencing, where you're at in the process, and moves forward at your pace, because you are the most important part of this equation.


Honestly, one of my favorite things about the work I do is getting to see my clients progress each week, to hear about their discoveries, see the connections they're making, and the ones they're letting go of. It's an honor to get to be there when someone succeeds, and I am thrilled by it every time.

My Philosophy on Change

Change can happen more easily than we’ve been taught to expect. Our minds are designed for rapid change. It's one of the most powerful attributes we have. Our subconscious minds are like employees working for us. Sometimes the information they're acting on is outdated or not giving us the results we want. When we give the mind better information to work with, things naturally begin to change.


Everyone already has the ability to create change. It's not really a matter of willpower or determination. It's a matter of having the right approach to discover what works, and letting go of what doesn't. Once those pieces are in place, anything becomes possible.


The program has to fit the individual, not the other way around. One of the reasons we struggle with change is because we try to mold ourselves into programs and methods that don't fit us in some way. When the method fits you and is based on your needs, you desires, and how you mind work best, the changes that follow are effortless.


The work we do together should be complete. Every session builds on the one before, reinforcing the positive changes already made, and continuing to move you toward your goals. By giving you the tools, techniques, and knowledge, you’ll have at your disposal proven frameworks of change that you can carry into any area of your life and continue benefiting from long after our sessions end.
