Does This Sound Familiar?

Difficulty Relaxing

You're tired but still feel like you're on alert. You try to relax and your mind won’t slow down, the tension won’t release, and you feel word down.

Physical Tension

Tightness in the shoulders, clenched jaw, headaches and sore muscles, and that unsettled feeling in the stomach. The Tension builds faster than you can release it.

Always On Edge

Even when nothing is immediately wrong there's a low-level tension that doesn't lift. You can't remember the last time you felt genuinely at ease.

Trouble Staying Focused

Your attention keeps slipping. You have trouble sticking to tasks, and they seem to take longer than they should.

Sleep Disruption

You have trouble falling asleep, or wake up and can't get back to sleep. Your mind is active when it should be quiet and you wake up already tired.

Short Fuse

Small things set you off in ways they didn't used to. You're more reactive, more irritable, and the gap between the trigger and your response keeps shrinking.

Constant Fatigue

You push through because you have to, but the fatigue is deep and sleep isn't fixing it. You’re starting to feel the effects of burnout

Numbing Out

You find yourself turning to alcohol, screens, or anything that takes the focus away from everything else.

You Can Live Without The Stress

Stress is a physiological event. Whenever something pushes your system out of its normal state, whether it’s a difficult conversation, a deadline, a worry, an illness, the brain activates the sympathetic nervous system. Adrenaline and cortisol flood the system. Heart rate increases, breathing gets shallow, digestion slows, and reason takes a back seat to reaction. This is what we call the fight-or-flight response. It’s the mind and body doing exactly what they’re designed to do to protect you from a perceived threat.

After the event, the brain eventually registers that the threat has passed and the parasympathetic nervous system takes over. The body comes back to baseline and we begin to recover.

When stress doesn't let up and the stressful situations keep coming, the stress response never fully shuts down. The parasympathetic relaxation response never fully engages and the body stays in a state of alert, sleep doesn't fully restore, and the tank never quite refills. When this goes on for long enough, the baseline level of stress rises, and it takes less and less to flip that switch to a full-on stress response.

Hypnosis works by changing the way you respond to those triggers in the first place. Your brain is running programs built from experience. How you react in certain situations comes from patterns of perception and reaction that run automatically. When something looks like something that caused stress before, the response fires before conscious thought has a chance to weigh in. Because this is part of your internal protection system, those programs will keep running until you replace them with something better.

Hypnosis allows you to give the subconscious mind the information it needs to update when and how it activates the nervous system’s stress response. Life is going to continue to happen, and the same stressful situations will likely happen again. But instead of launching into the old way of reacting, you find yourself thinking about things differently, responding to them with more ease and confidence.

You can live without the stress. Hypnosis can help.

How Hypnosis Works for Stress

Your subconscious mind is like the operating system of a computer. It holds all the programs, functions, and strategies that direct how you interact with yourself and the world around you.

Your mind is constantly evaluating everything around you, comparing what's happening now to what it already knows, and deciding how to respond. Most of the time that happens faster than conscious thought.

With stress, the brain has learned that certain situations, people, or pressures require a high-alert response. It built that pattern from experience and it runs it automatically now, even when the situation doesn't actually warrant that level of activation.

The part of your brain responsible for reason and perspective knows on some level that the reaction may be out of proportion. But the stress response is coming from a deeper layer, one that doesn't respond effectively to just talking yourself out of it. That's why you can know intellectually that everything is going to be okay and still feel the tension rising.

Hypnosis works by using the same language as the brain's operating system. In a normal waking state the analytical mind is active and filtering. In hypnosis you're fully aware and in control, and that shift in your level of consciousness allows you to be more receptive to new information at the deeper level where those patterns come from. That's what makes hypnosis different from approaches that work at the conscious level.

In a session you're relaxed but present. You can hear everything, respond if you need to, and you remember much of what happens. The work we do together uses hypnotic language patterns, imagination, and suggestion to help the subconscious update the old stress patterns and replace them with responses that allow you to be more selective about what you react to.

What Changes

You Relax More Easily

You stop overthinking and your nervous system has an easier time shifting gears. You carry less of the day around with you.

Sleep Comes Easier

Your mind quiets down at night. You fall asleep more easily, stay asleep, and wake up feeling more rested and restored.

The Tension Releases

Your shoulders drop, the jaw unclenches, and the physical strain of stress stops accumulating the way it used to.

You Have More Patience

There’s more room for thought between you and your reactions and the gap between trigger and response gets wider.

You Stop Bracing

You feel more comfortable and at ease. You move through your day without waiting for the next thing to go wrong.

Your Energy Returns

Without the stress response running full time, you have more energy and resources to do the things you want to do. The fatigue lifts and the tank starts refilling.

You Stop Needing The Escape

With less stress, the need to numb out drops. You can be more present without something to distract you or take the edge off.

Your Focus Sharpens

Your mind is calmer and clearer and your attention stays focused longer. You can start a task and stay with it more easily. Tasks take the time they should take.

What to Expect

Every new client starts with a free consultation call.

The call is yours. You'll have time to describe what you've been experiencing, how long it's been happening, and how you want things to be different. There's no rush and no agenda other than getting to know each other a bit and discovering the best path forward.

From there you'll have a clear picture of what working together looks like, what we'll focus on, how the sessions work, and what you can expect along the way. Most people come to that first call with questions. That's exactly what it's for. And when you're ready, we can schedule your sessions right in the call.

For most clients I recommend working together through a series of five weekly sessions, each about an hour long, held in a secure and private video call online. Because all sessions are held remotely, we can work together from wherever you are in the US. Hypnosis is a conversation, and it is equally as effective online as it is in person. And there's another benefit to working together remotely: when you're experiencing these positive changes in your own environment, everything around you becomes a reinforcement for the positive changes you're creating.

Each session builds on the last, combining traditional and conversational hypnosis, reframing, and strategy work to create the momentum of your success. Between sessions you'll also receive recorded hypnosis sessions and other tools, techniques, and strategies that support and complement the work we do together.

Every session is built around you. What we focus on, the language we use, and the specific issues we address are based on where you are in the process of change. This isn't a scripted protocol. It's tailored to what you're actually experiencing.

Before founding Green Mountain Hypnosis in 2016 I spent more than a decade caring for people as a registered nurse. My clinical background gives me a unique perspective on the mind-body connection that shapes everything about how I work with clients today.

Stress is one of the most common things people come to me for, and one of the most rewarding to work with. I've seen firsthand the effects of sustained stress. When the underlying pattern is resolved rather than managed, the changes are profound and lasting.
